6th Grade Math

Welcome 6th Grade Dolphins and the Class of 2024! My name is Briley Vickery and I will be your math teacher this year! This is my fifth year teaching at DDMS and I am looking forward to meeting and getting to know each of you this year! I was born right outside of Atlanta, Georgia and then moved and was raised in Greer, South Carolina.  I attended the University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC where I majored in Middle Level Education specializing in math and social studies. After graduating in 2012, I moved to Cary after my wedding.  My husband, Bryan, is a professional civil engineer in downtown Raleigh.  My favorite animal is harp seals and I love to travel and experience new things. My favorite color is lime green.  I LOVE Chipotle and Vanilla Coke Zero.  I also enjoy shopping (LOFT, Target, etc.), taking classes at PureBarre and volunteering at my church. Weird thing about me: I DO NOT LIKE CHOCOLATE...yeah, chocolate, strange.  I like salty snacks instead....CheezeIts, WheatThins, chips, peanuts, etc.

     I have wanted to be a teacher my entire life and it is so much fun to come to work everyday and live out my dream. All I wanted when I was in elementary school was an overhead projector (yall probably don't even know what that is!) for my classroom in our playroom.  I ended up getting one and spent countless hours and days playing school.  I taught my younger brothers how to multiply before they went to kindergarten so I guess it paid off and I was meant to be a math teacher all along! I am looking forward to a great year of learning with you this school year! I love teaching students that come every day willing to give it their best.  I would rather you try over and over and fail than not try at all! That's the way to impress me :)
